The Bluebonnets
The Bluebonnets
As a resident of Texas now for 7 years, every spring the bluebonnets stop me in the tracks. They are such a welcoming and happy sight. For this painting, I combined reference images from both my hometown where I grew up (outside of Texas) and a field of bluebonnets near my home now. I chose to paint this scene at nearly dusk, as the last glimmers of the golden hour shine through the sky: a contrast of warmth amongst the cool purples and blues.
8x10in. / Oil on Hardboard Panel / Unframed.
